Lorena holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad Centroamericana “José Simeón Cañas” in El Salvador, and a joint master’s degree in Macroeconomics and Economic Policy Analysis from the Berlin School of Economics and Law (Berlin, Germany), Sorbonne Université and Université de París (Paris, France); as part of the program “Economic Policies for the Global Transition” (EPOG+). Prior to CEPR, she worked as a researcher, gaining professional experience in academia, think tanks, and international organizations, focusing on topics such as social protection, gender and economics, inequalities in Latin America, and fiscal justice. Lorena also has several years of experience as an educator, teaching issues related to macroeconomics and feminist economics to undergraduate students, civil society organizations, and journalists.
