Distinguished Experts Are Authorities on Urban Political Experience and Political Economy of Eurozone

Washington, DC? The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is expanding its expertise on its Domestic and International programs with the addition of Junius Williams and Antonio Lettieri.
Williams brings to CEPR his expertise in urban political experience. He has been a nationally recognized attorney, musician, educator, and independent thinker at the forefront of the civil rights and human rights movements in the US for decades. As the Founding Director of the Abbott Leadership Institute at Rutgers University Newark, he taught leadership and community organization based on lessons outlined in his book, “Unfinished Agenda, Urban Politics in the Era of Black Power.” He is the Producer of the website “RiseUpNewark.com,” which is the first in a series tracing the history of the black empowerment experience in northern cities.
Lettieri is a prominent labor figure in Italy, bringing to CEPR his expertise on the political and economic situation in Italy and the eurozone. He graduated cum laude in political science at the University of Naples. After joining the trade union movement, he was elected national secretary of FIOM (the metalworkers’ union) and then national secretary of the Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL). He was appointed advisor to Italy’s minister of labor under the governments presided over by prime ministers Massimo D’Alema and Giuliano Amato. He is former adjunct professor of labor law at the University of Naples. Currently, he is editor of Insight.
Williams and Lettieri join 13 other fellows from around the world with expertise in a wide range of areas, including macroeconomics, international development, labor markets, and social and economic inequality. CEPR’s Senior Research Fellows include Randy Albelda, Marcellus Andrews, Cherrie Bucknor, Ha-Joon Chang, Niki T. Dickerson, Shawn Fremstad, Roberto Frenkel, Janelle Jones, Helene Jorgensen, Ravi Katari, John Schmitt, Franklin Serrano, and Ben Zipperer.
